An "Airboom" is a type of firework, specifically a single-tube firework, that creates a loud bang and a bright white flash. It consists of a paper case filled with flash powder, which is propelled into the air by a black powder lift charge and explodes mid-air. Due to safety concerns, single-tube airbombs are banned in some places, and manufacturers have shifted to using other effects like crackles or black powder bursts for aerial fireworks.

How an airboom works

Lift charge: A black powder charge at the bottom of the tube is ignited by the fuse, propelling the firework into the air.
Fuse: The fuse continues to burn as the firework ascends.
Mid-air explosion: When the fuse reaches the top, it ignites the flash powder inside the paper case.
Effect: The flash powder explodes, producing a loud bang and a bright white flash.
